Product Description
Bobby is a bonobo. (It’s fun to say. Try it: bo-NO-bo.) Many people mistake bonobos for chimps, but Bobby’s not a chimp. He’s a bonobo! He’s also a very nice fellow. Then why won’t the chimps at the zoo include him? Maybe he’s just too different. Poor Bobby is lonely, so one day he slips out to explore the city. He comes across a barber shop . . . and comes out with a whole new look. Now he’s even more different. What will the chimps do? Full of funny turns and surprises, and irresistible illustrations, this sprightly tale of an oddball’s adventure reminds us that friendship often comes easiest just by being bold, and being yourself.

My grandson and I both liked it.

I read this book to my (adorable) grandson (not quite four years old). He wanted to hear it again the next day, the best possible evidence that it is a very good book. The story carried me along as well: I really was interested in finding out what would happen next, and I liked it the second time just as much. Bobby is a very good protagonist! The book obviously has educational value (differences between bonobos and chimps, use of sign language, getting along with others who are a little different) but this is done lightly and easily.

A great book that teaches children about inclusion in a fun way. My son's class really enjoyed it and we all learned how to sign WOW!
