Product Description
Greetings. There is a body buried on your property, covered in your blood. The unfortunate young lady's name is Rita Jones. In her jeans pocket you'll find a slip of paper with a phone number on it. Call that number. If I have not heard from you by 8:00 P.M., the police will receive an anonymous call. I'll tell them where Rita Jones is buried on your property, how you killed her, and where the murder weapon can be found in your house. (I do believe a paring knife is missing from your kitchen.) I strongly advise against going to the police, as I am always watching you.
Dear Reader: Please keep the light on tonight. What happens next will scare you. Guaranteed.
In one of the most chilling debuts of the year, Blake Crouch tells a tale that shatters the boundaries of fear. Caution: You've Been Warned--Read at Your Own Risk!
Andrew Z. Thomas is a successful writer of suspense thrillers, living the dream at his lake house in the piedmont of North Carolina. One afternoon in late spring, he receives a bizarre letter that eventually threatens his career, his sanity, and the lives of everyone he loves. A murderer is designing his future, and for the life of him, Andrew can't get away.
An edge-of-your-seat thriller, Desert Places introduces the American public to a new suspense writer who will be scaring us all for years to come.

Don't be such party-poopers. The book was delicious. Gory, pushing the thriller boundaries in its gory horribleness but delicious reading.

Fun book! It's nice when the bad guys get what's coming to them and ordinary guys get to be heros!
Looking forward to reading the sequel to this book, as well as looking forward to more books by Mr. Crouch!

One of my Top 3 Books!

I found this book by chance on the shelf at a used bookstore (sorry Amazon!). I read the back cover and a the opening paragraph and I was instantly hooked! After I bought the book, I couldn't wait to get home and read it! After I started, I couldn't set it down! I also got my friend to start reading it and she LOVED it as much as I did!
The book is based on two identical twins that sent separate ways after high school and lost contact. The oldest disappeared, and the younger one became a famous Serial Killer novelist. After several successful hit novels, he comes face to face with his passion in a life lesson that will turn his world upside down!
This is an extreme suspense novel that will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. You'll try to race through the pages to see what happens next, but every page you turn will reveal everything you didn't expect!
A recommedation for any thiller readers!!!

I actually read Blake Crouch's first novel, Locked Doors and was so impressed that I had to read his first novel, Desert Places. I couldn't put the book down, really got into it and enjoyed it immensely. Great serial killer/murder/suspense novel.

This Book Drags On.....

I read this book in 2 days and i thought it was pretty crappy. It starts when a author gets an anoynomous letter that says he he doesn't follow directions he will be framed. So i thought this book won't be so bad. When the author reveals who the villian is it was pretty lame. With just too many brutal murders and too much information not to mention when the villian kills an old lady.(don't want to give it away)Everyone in this book dies not to mention the fact that this killer has no reason why he is doing this in the first place. The hero gets drugged alot no to mention sleeps alot also. The ending made no sense whatsoever. This book just keeps dragging on and on! i guess if you like books with so much detail and not enough significance this will be a great book for you. Signing off ...
